It gives you the ability to get your nymphs down to where the fish are without having to change your fly or leader setup.
It will stay in place on your line whilst casting and will not move along your line when in the water.
It is easy apply and remove and will not damage your line making a weak point.
Testimonial by Mick Humphrey:
After a day out with Scott from indulgence fly fish.. I decided to pick his brain about an upcoming trip I’d planned to fish the Eucumbene River spawn run..
I’d not fished this phenomenon and wanted to pick up any tricks from his vast library of experience..
We talked about fly selection, gear and getting down deep to waiting fish.. and how vital it was to have weight and depth sorted to be successful. We matched weighted flys and eggs and discussed how to fish them
Scott produced a new product that I was immediately interested in.. after 20 plus years of fly fishing I’d never heard or seen.. Tungsten putty.. a great little malleable blob that can be used in any situation that split shot would be required. By simply pinching off a desired piece it could be pressed onto the line as you would split shot… delving further, a set of scales were soon comparing the equivalent size piece of putty to different tungsten beads.. with the weight almost spot on..
Once on the river I was Keen to give this intriguing grey blob a try..
Taking a pinch about the size of a dress pin and pressing it onto the line between flies, I instantly noticed the difference in speed at which my flies descended but surprisingly not the added weight during the cast..
Walking up the river to runs and pools it was easy to add and remove the putty to match the depth I was fishing at keeping my flies at the crucial depth, on or just above the bottom..
After a day of trial and error it started to all come together.. getting flies down quick and keeping them there was the recipe for my success..
